The Vintage Mama: Practical Styling for Everyday Cuteness!

Hi Millie Girls and Mamas!

As the season starts to transition...very slowly... to Spring, I've been getting really excited for shedding coats and hats, and slipping into lighter layers and getting out the door with much more ease. It's amazing how much less time everything takes with a kiddo in tow when there aren't boots and mittens involved!

As any of you who have little ones know, it's a whole new ball game when it comes to personal style, and it can get a little confusing if you have typically been more comfortable in a dress than in pants! It can be very easy to slip into the black hole of yoga pants post-baby, but there are ways to maintain your sense of style, keep wearing dresses, and feel like yourself while still staying comfortable!

These are some looks from my personal wardrobe that are easy to wear while running around with my toddler or if I'm on my feet all day at the shop!

One of my favorite go-to's is a simple knit top or tee and a cotton full skirt, such as here I love this particular outfit with our Black Scan Booties from the shop found here. Throw on an infinity scarf here and cinch with a belt. My vintage Coach Crossbody Satchel is remarkably roomy and perfectly fits my personal essentials as well as snacks and diapers! When I'm feeling less fussy and the temps are up there, this ensemble goes to just the tee, skirt and flats!

Vintage Cotton Shirtwaist Dresses are so the best! You can find some, such as this cutie

 here

They can be dressed up or down and are really very comfortable. I like to size up an inch or so for better movement with the little one and for layering in cooler months. Here I styled the dress with a modern consigned blouse underneath, my vintage Frye boots and vintage satchel. In the warmer months I just throw this dress on with flat sandals or sneakers!

When I'm at the shop, this look is one of my favorites! The dress is one of our reproduction styles by Hearts and Roses. Find them here The fabric is a soft sturdy stretchy cotton which is so ideal for movement. It's like wearing a soft fitted tee shirt and nothing else. What's better than that?! I layer mine with a jacket, such as this consigned Tahari Chambray cutie or one of our cropped cardigans!

This dress is like my uniform! A cotton shirtdress is perfect for just tossing on when I'm running around with my daughter and I can dress it up a little for work too! Find similar ones here Here I've styled it with my Vintage Fryes and I have paired it with leggings, and even *ahem* Yoga Pants ;)

It has started to become a bit of a tradition, and when I say "tradition" I mean I have attempted this a few times over the last few weeks, to get a little matchy-matchy with my babe. Shown here is one of my most comfortable soft brushed cotton Vintage Shirtwaist Dresses from the shop, with a Vintage dress of my daughter's. Styled with Vintage Fryes, vintage belt and a small Vintage Fabric Suitcase which is so awesome for a day out and you feel like you need to bring the whole house with you. It fits a million diapers, my personals as well as books snacks and toys for on the go! For even more practicality I wear this dress belt free with flats or sneakers!

Trust me, there are definitely some days where I need a fashion pep talk! And for those days, I look to a few favorite Mama Style Bloggers for inspiration such as

Kristina from EccentricOwl who writes a lovely blog combining her love for vintage clothing, the art of literature and being a Mom of two little ones! I highly recommend checking her out!

That will do it for now, Millie Girls and Mamas! Until next time!

Ooh, I love all of these, but especially that last one! As Evie gets older, I’m starting to think more towards getting us to match (which is hard, because she has a lot of pink and I think I have one skirt and one dress that are pink). I can’t wait for her to be big enough to really get into fashion1

Thank you for the shoutout! <3
