Hi Millie Girls! I hope you are all enjoying a lovely week! This week's Millie Girl is the super sweet, Elise. I received a submission from her the very day I posted on social media that I'd be starting this blog and I literally teared up reading it.
Clothing can mark occasions in our life and contribute to the memories we form. Whether big events or spontaneous outings, we tend to remember what we wore. Inside our memory of that day are the sights the sounds and the image of looking down at the prints and colors of our outfit and how the clothing made us feel.
Elise's submission made me think about how important those clothing memories are, how clothing can remind us of loved ones we have lost, and how the places we shop can be so significant. I feel truly honored to have her as a customer, as we at Modern Millie feel about ALL of you!
Here is what Elise had to say about her experience at Millie's:

Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to buy the beautiful vintage dresses I would see in movies and on women... I always have had that old, classic soul. My grandmother, who just passed away two weeks ago, used to tell me I look like Judy Garland. That was my favorite because I LOVE The Wizard of Oz! (This red sparkle dress came from your shop, a consignment piece by Badgley Mischka that fit me like a glove!)
I have been a Millie Girl since early 2016, and this is how I found your lovely shop...
I used to live and work in Cambridge, and a lady came into my job wearing a beautiful dress. I asked her where she got it, and it was Modern Millie of course!! I was so excited, I took a train for an hour by myself to find your shop in Salem and shop for what would be my college graduation (first Millie dress for me) gown.
Then, I was addicted. I bought these two:
And I continued to fall in love with your dresses!!
If I could, I would buy a new Millie Dress every week! I have worn your dresses to celebrate my college graduation, niece's 4th birthday, my 21st birthday, and I have worn your dresses to work, work parties, and many other fun occassions. I LOVE Modern Millie and I will be a Millie Girl for life."
