Constellations! Cats! Dinos! and... Glow in the Dark Fabric?! Oh my!!!
Our Out of This World Collection from Retrolicious will have you seeing stars! Whether it's escaping with a good book in the Bookworm Dress, or glowing the night away in the Jurassic Glow in The Dark Skirt, there is something for every science loving Millie Girl!
If you aren't already familiar with the brand Retrolicious, allow me to introduce you!
Retrolicious is a vintage inspired brand of classy and fun dresses for the modern woman, ranging from size XS to 4X when available. Made of 100% Cotton and in the U.S.A.
What sets the brand apart is their choices in clever and unique fabrics to compliment their designs. The classic cut dresses and skirts appeal to girls of all ages and are appropriate for every age group.
The Out of This World Collection showcases skirts and dresses in bold space prints, book prints and glow in the dark fabrics! Though the pieces are cotton and the dresses are sleeveless, we consider them to be able to be worn year round, and we have some tips on how to do that!
Our best friend this time of year is layering! Here's how to do so without feeling bulky!
The Cat Constellation Dress is the perfect dress for layering. It's sleeveless so you can wear a top underneath. If you aren't into tie neck blouses or collared shirts, a simple fitted black tee shirt or mesh top fits the bill. For an added layer and pop of color, one of our Perfect Cropped Cardis are just the thing and there are so many colors to choose from! The shorter skirt length hitting just above the knee is perfect for tights and boots, either ankle knee high or over the knee!
The fit on this is a bit petite so we'd suggest sizing up especially if you plan to layer and it does have an elastic waist; added bonus for comfort and flexibility there!
Next up and my personal fave in the collection is the Bookworm Dress! LOOK at the print! The top of the fabric features Library Check In and Out Cards (um, adorable) and the border print is repeating stacked books. I'm so in love with this! I have told many customers over the years that my secret dream job is a 1970's Librarian, so if I could just wear this dress every day in all different ways I'd kind of be living my dream, right?
The cutest way to layer this one is with a little tie neck top, but you can also pop a cardigan over it, do a chunky pullover sweater, wear a cute little blazer and infinity scarf...
The length on the skirt is that perfect above the knee length too, so you can wear tights, leggings, whatever your bottom of choice is!
Next up: SKIRTS!
The skirts in the collection are super comfortable with an elastic backing at the waist and a-line shape. Not too full and pleated, but just enough flare to give you some space and be flattering. Pair an easy fitted knit with it to be tucked in or out, or layer a collared shirt under a crew neck sweater, or a fun chunky sweater works well too! You can wear tights and heels or flats, or leggings and boots or booties. Honestly when the winter really sets in and all you want to wear are leggings and sweaters, these skirts are the perfect piece to work into that equation to give you life!
The Jurassic Glow Skirt is made of Glow in the Dark Fabric! How fun would a Glow in the Dark Themed Party be for New Years? Please, someone do that so I can live vicariously through you!
