Here at Millie's we think a great makeup look is the cherry on top of the perfect outfit! To help our customers pair the two together we recently hosted a super fun shopping event featuring fun makeup tips provided by fellow Salem business owner, Laura Lanes from Laura Lanes Skincare! Here are a few pictures of all the fun!
Watching all the ladies learning great tips from Laura inspired me to share a few of my own! I LOVE makeup. I wear a full face, faux eyelashes and all, everyday! Tons of customers in the shop ask me how long it takes me to get ready in the morning or will ask for recommendations on specific products I use so I thought it would be helpful to go over a few of my favorite products that also fall in line with spring 2016 makeup trends!
Spring 2016 seems to be all about a bright lip while sporting a more natural looking eye. I don't think I'll be able to give up my eyeshadows, but I'm all for a great lipstick! Another trend is a neutral lip with a bright touch of blue around the eyes! This is very reminiscent of Twiggy and a great look to go with 60's inspired outfits. Bold lashes also seem to be making an appearance for this season, which is perfect for me! There definitely seems to be less focus on bronzers and heavy contouring which is great for saving time getting ready.
Here are a few photos from Harper's Bizarre of my three favorite Spring 2016 makeup trends:
(bright lip, blue accented eye, huge eyelashes)
Three of my favorite bright lipstick colors that are perfect for spring are Vegas Volt, Dangerous, and Relentlessly Red by MAC Cosmetics. Vegas Volt is a bright coral orange with a sheen that looks great with 60's and 70's inspired outfits. This is a great lipstick to try out with a bright blue eyelid! Dangerous is a matte orangey red. I find it to be a nice change from a true red and think it goes well with the colors I'm attracted to wearing on the sunny days of spring! Despite its name, Relentlessly Red is actually a darker bright pink! It is also a matte lipstick, which I find to be the best type for color saturation and all day wear!

Here are photos of me sporting these lipsticks in the same order from top to bottom:
For these looks I also used Dipbrow by Anastasia of Beverly Hills to create my emphasized brow look and a black eyeliner marker pen by NYX to create my cat eye. I used two pairs of #105 Ardell lashes right from CVS and glue them on one over the other with dark tone glue.
As far as a great bright blue shadow, I find that NYX makes shadows that are very comparable to MAC and at a much lower price! Ardell also makes tons of other styles of lashes to recreate that great over emphasized lash trend!
