Hey Millie Babes! At Modern Millie, size inclusivity is our jam. We’re all about making sure everyone feels fabulous, no matter their size. Our lovely customer Christine recently shared her amazing experience with us, and we just had to shout it from the rooftops!

Christine's Story: Feeling Fabulous in Millie Dresses

Christine, who’s been rocking the subculture scene since the '90s, had a blast at the Tiki A-Go-Go event in April. Here’s what she had to say:

"Why size representation matters so much to bodies like mine. I went to Tiki A-Go-Go in April and the majority of my dresses were Millie dresses. And oh the compliments I received and how perfectly pretty I felt. I bumped into another gal wearing the same dress as me and she was a straight-sized lady and it occurred to me just how rare it was that I, a subculture girl since the '90s, have never really seen straight-sized girls wearing something that I also owned. Because it wasn’t available to me."

How cool is that? Christine's experience was a total game-changer. Seeing another stylish babe in the same dress, regardless of size, was a major moment of inclusion and fashion fun!

Christine also reflected on her past fashion struggles, and boy, can we relate:

"Decades stuck shopping in the racks hidden in corners, terrible boxy shapes to hide 'flaws,' nothing celebrating every lovely cherished curve that I possessed. The clothes screamed HIDE HIDE HIDE but I wanted to stand out in riots of color because my body always brought me such joy and I wanted to honor it in clothing it deserved, not settled for."

Christine's visits to our store are always a blast:

"Oh how happy I am every time I visit your store to play dress up and I always leave with a lightened wallet and the happiest of hearts."

Expanding Our Size Range

While not every brand we carry offers extended size ranges, we’ve made massive strides in expanding our sizes as much as Millie-babely possible, with some sizes going to a 6X-Large. We're committed to continuing this effort, ensuring that everyone can find something they love.
